01
Is your honey raw?
UK legislation requires all honey produced in the UK to be "raw". Any honey that is heated past 40-48°C is called Bakers' Honey.
02
Is your honey pure?
I'm assuming the question is, does your honey contain added sugar? The answer is no, but maybe. I don't feed sugar to my bees if I can avoid it. But bees forage and rob from a large radius. There are "bee feeders" you find on the internet that can be put out by any uneducated "helper" other beekeepers may be feeding/have fed their bees, and my bees may rob their stores, or if a hive has died, take what's left, including sugar.
03
How local is your honey?
At the moment, my honey is centred around Ramsbottom. I am looking at Bolton. If you want honey from your area, I personally would need a large apiary.
Alternatively, you can contact the BBKA and see if they can put you in touch with a beekeeper near you.

05
Is local honey good for you?
Local honey is believed to be good for things like hay fever and allergies.
There's no scientific evidence to support this theory. But I believe that everyone is different and will react differently to honey.
The best course of action is to try. If you have a tree pollen allergy instead of a grass pollen allergy, local honey may help. It's best to start taking honey before symptoms. This gets your immune system working before your immune system is "attacked" by the natural pollen.
06
Is honey good for you?
Honey is primarily a sugar and should be treated as such.
But studies have shown that honey can be good for sore throats. It works by coating the throat, acting as an anti-inflammatory, and providing antimicrobial properties. These properties can sometimes be damaged by high heat and should be avoided when using this way.
Honey has been linked to other health benefits. I don't have enough room on here to list them all, so please do your own research in these cases.
